Rainbow Centre

Special education, for that little bit of extra love, attention and encouragement.

At Rainbow Centre, we provide a safe environment for children with physical disabilities, developmental delays, low cognitive levels or learning disabilities. We believe this allows each student to grow and allow their talents to flourish. It is often the case that a student turns out to be tremendously musical, athletic, creative or smart. For example, we already have two chess champions at school!

Special Education

Many children have a learning or developmental delaybecause of neglect, malnutrition, trauma or abuse. Many of them are never stimulated in their development. There are no special education services made available by the government, causing many children to roam the streets, which can lead to dangerous situations.

For some, this is even their first time going to school and learning something. The classroom atmosphere is often the opposite of the students’ home situation. We start at the very beginning with these children, regardless of their age, for example, with learning letters and numbers. Broad development is worked on, for example through sports, (Bible) stories, games, art, music, playing outside and practical tasks, such as helping in the school garden.

The nearly 100 children at Rainbow Centre are each stimulated at their own level in a loving environment. The children love coming to school because at least there the daily schedule is predictable, the adults are kind and patient, they get two nutritious and tasty meals a day, and they often hear that they are loved and valued.
